Antigua and Barbuda Diabetes Association was established on February 9, 1986. The founding President Vivian James, was motivated by the need to provide support for persons living with diabetes to help them take better care of themselves and to avoid common complications especially amputations of which there was a high prevalence among persons living with diabetes. So together with other like-minded persons the Association was started.
- To generate interest, commitment and action in the prevention and management of diabetes
- To help persons living with diabetes and their family members to provide quality self-management and to better cope with the condition
- To improve care, treatment and the quality of life for persons living with diabetes
